TERMS & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY TO SELECT PERFORMING ARTS
RESPECT & BEHAVIOUR
Select students are required to show respect and consideration to their tutors and each other. It is an integral part of the school ethos to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone to enjoy.
Any disruptive or intolerant behaviour will be reported to parents in the first instance. We are a fair and tolerant school, and will work with parents to resolve any underlying issues, however, persistent bad behaviour or behaviour that we feel is detrimental to the school, our staff or other students will result in that student being asked to leave classes. In the event of a student being asked to leave the school for unacceptable behaviour, there will be no refund of fees.
UNIFORM & BELONGINGS
There is a compulsory uniform of our Select Polo Shirt, this is required before the 2nd half of the term the student starts, this can be purchased through the school. Uniform must be worn at all classes, with any black trousers or shorts. They must be comfortable and suitable for lessons, flexible footwear is required for dance (no boots, Uggs or heavy shoes).
For all students: Hair should be neat and tidy. Long hair tied back and away from the face.
Students should always present themselves, smartly.
We ask that students do not bring cash or valuables to classes, as Select cannot be held responsible for the loss of any personal items or possessions. Jewellery should not be worn. Stud earrings are acceptable.
If a student must bring a mobile phone to classes it will be at their own risk. We ask that all mobiles are switched off, or on silent during lessons, and stored away in a safe place (NOT carried into the lesson in pockets). Making / receiving / checking calls or messages during classes will not be permitted. Please respect your tutor and other students by waiting until break or the end of classes to use your phone.
LEAVING SCHOOL PREMISES:
Students under 16 must be collected from their lesson by a parent or guardian. Please advise us in advance, preferably by email or text, if you have asked any other adult to collect your child. No student from this age group is allowed to leave on their own or meet a parent outside.
To comply with Health & Safety regulations, any student who needs to leave classes early, MUST inform their tutor or a member of staff on the day so that they can be marked off the register, (even if prior notice has been given). This applies to all age groups.
Please ensure we are kept up to date with contact details for all parents and guardians. In the event of a student becoming ill or needing medical attention we will contact parents or emergency contact numbers. If we are unable to contact an appropriate adult we will act as loco parentis and seek medical attention as we judge appropriate. Please make sure we are kept up to date with any necessary medical information.
PAYMENT OF FEES
Fees are payable in advance on or before the first day of each term. We regret that we are unable to accept weekly payments for classes.
Fees cannot be refunded for non-attendance at classes.
We hope your son or daughter will remain with us for many years, but when the time does come to say goodbye we require a minimum of four weeks written notice from a parent/guardian, this does not apply to our trial courses. In the event of a student not returning to a new term, without giving the appropriate written notice, an invoice will be issued for four weeks class fees, in lieu of notice.
Please notify us of any relevant changes in personal or contact details, either by email or by printing and completing the relevant document from our website.
It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to advise the school of any health problems or behavioural issues, and to keep us updated of any changes.
To avoid embarrassment to students, please let us know if your son or daughter is a slow reader or has dyslexia or any other learning issues. We will always endeavour to offer extra help where needed. All health, educational and personal information is treated with the strictest confidence.
Your son or daughter will find a warm welcome at Select, and we sincerely hope that their time with us will build confidence and give them many happy memories.
